This is not one of the hardest, but yet not one of the easiest courses that I have taken on the Sophia learning platform. The touchstone is a bit involved and is required to be 6 to 8 pages long. And it has a bunch of things to be included, and although the timeframe to grade is 2 to 4 days, I was used to the other professors grading my courses much sooner so waiting two or three days for this grade held me up for moving on to the next course and it seemed like forever.

This course has a lot of very good materials, and much of the subject matter contained within is deeply valuable and applicable to everyone.
It's because of the importance of these lessons though, that I found myself somewhat disappointed at times when I felt the course didn't fully achieve the neutral tone I would hope for in an academic setting. This was the first Sophia course where I felt I could "hear the author's voice" in their work, or know their opinion.
For example, I worry that the contemporary political references, (even when I agree with them,) risk undermining the central points of the course by calling into question the impartiality with which they're being presented. With a topic that's as sensitive and important as diversity, I would hope to always feel that the author is trying to convey rather than convince.
It's with this in mind that perhaps some of the language used in the materials could be reevaluated on their tonal neutrality.
